A summary from our first full week back after the Christmas break.
Front of house
We’re starting to hear more details from most of our clients about their plans for 2025, which is always exciting. In the coming months we’ve got multi-contitental zoom calls and trips to visit several clients to develop a first pass of the 2025 roadmaps.
January is often upgrade season, and that’s true again this year, with many clients going through the labourious but fruitful process of upgrading Rails versions.
From the Kitchen
We found a good use case for Snapshot specs this week. Otherwise we’re working on finishing off some features that didn’t quite get out before Christmas; and making our own plans for the year.
What we’ve been watching and reading
We’re still working through several books in parts of the team:
- Good Strategy Bad Strategy: The Difference and Why it Matters by Richard Rumelt
- The Art of Action: How Leaders Close the Gaps Between Plans, Actions and Results by Stephen Bungay
This video from Fallow on The 5 Skills Michelin Chefs Should Know lead to some discussion about how we want to train new developers, and the challenges of doing so remotely.
Come with the right attitude and the rest is our job.
